Swami Sankarananda

Swami Sankarananda was born in Guwahati, Assam, India in the year 1972. He came into contact with Sri Sri Bhagavan as a schoolboy in the year 1989, through his childhood friend and classmate Swami Probuddhananda.

After 9 years of spiritual practice and works, in the year 1998 Swamiji embraced monkhood (sannyasa), becoming one of Bhagavan’s first six monastic disciples. In the year 2006, swamiji published his first acclaimed book Advaita Vedanta that reflected the truth of his spiritual realizations.

Swamiji has lectured at various academic and social institutions both in India and in his visits to Europe in 2011, 2012 and 2015. He has held various posts at IVS, and currently (in 2018) serves as its General Secretary.
