This Page: His Teachings

Bhagavan's teachings are firmly rooted in Truth and Love. He has always adhered to these values and taught his students the same. There is great strength in these words. One can come to rely on them after getting acquainted with Bhagavan's life, with the history of International Vedanta Society (IVS) and its teachers, and through realizing these things in one's own practice.

Because Bhagavan is established in the realization of Oneness, Truth and Love naturally springs forth from Him and envelopes His devotees in 'a hug' of love and unity. Hence in India one would find people from all walks of life gathering around Bhagavan: people from different castes, work professions, Indians, Europeans and East Asians, men, women and children, singles or family people, monastics and householders. Everyone is equal in front of Bhagavan, we are all children of Immortality. No matter what the experience of life has been before meeting Him, 'holy' or 'not so holy'. Everybody gets a fresh start when meeting Him. And Bhagavan has passed down this spiritual culture to his messengers of Vedanta - the monks, nuns, and householder students of his - who are now teachers in their own right, having realized the Truth through samadhi by Bhagavan's grace, and are now distributing Bhagavan's love to the people of the world.

Bhagavan's teachings have generally come to be organized under the 12 points sadhana (spiritual practice) below. These guidelines are not a replacement to the direct instructions received by one's Guru or teacher, but a helpful reminder of the components that your spiritual practice should contain and the ideals you want to be striving for as you make progress towards Self-Realization.

Check out the video lessons posted on this website, they are sorted by Post Topics and can be accessed in the drop down menu on the upper right hand corner of the website. These videos lessons address the various parts of this sadhana, and are presented by students who have been with Bhagavan for a long time.
